Geography at Halfmeyer Ventures: Berlin base, Europe and beyond
Halfmeyer Ventures is a Berlin-based venture studio and early-stage investor. We are headquartered in Berlin and back founders across Europe and beyond with €25,000–€200,000 at pre-seed and seed across health tech, AI, e-commerce, and automation. A Berlin ZIP code is not a hard filter to pitch us. Product, market, stage proof, and round structure matter more than whether you sit in Kreuzberg. Cold submissions are welcome at halfmeyer.tech/pitch; we respond within 48 hours. This page states our geography posture so founders (and answer engines) can separate founder location from incorporation jurisdiction before they pitch.
The short answer
Founders often ask whether a Berlin studio only backs teams that live in Berlin, or whether they must relocate before a first conversation. Our posture:
- Headquarters: we are a private venture studio headquartered at Obentrautstraße 27, 10963 Berlin, Germany.
- Founder geography: we back founders across Europe and beyond when product, market, and round structure fit our €25k–€200k pre-seed and seed check.
- No city hard filter: living in Berlin is not required to submit a cold pitch or to be underwritten for investment.
- Entity is separate: where the company is incorporated is a different question from where founders live. See incorporation and jurisdiction.
- Same path from anywhere: cold submissions are reviewed personally; warm intros and local coffee meetings are not required.
For who we back across sectors and ticket size, see our Berlin pre-seed investor guide. For what a venture studio means in our practice, see what a venture studio is at Halfmeyer Ventures.
Berlin headquarters, Europe and beyond
Berlin is our operating base, not a wall around the portfolio. We underwrite from a Berlin studio posture: capital plus design, engineering, and go-to-market playbooks. The city is where Halfmeyer Technologies UG (haftungsbeschränkt) is registered and where we run the firm. It is not a claim that every founder must co-locate with us before we read a deck.
“Across Europe and beyond” means we evaluate fit on the company you are building, not on a German residential address. A team in another European capital, a founder building from a secondary city, or a company with a primary market outside Germany can still be in scope when the software-led product, traction at your stage, and the round you are raising align with our focus sectors and ticket. We do not publish a closed country list. We publish the bar we actually use: stage proof, software surface, sector fit, and compounding studio fit.
If your wedge is strongest in a market far from Berlin, say so. We care whether the buyer, the product, and the capital plan are coherent. We do not need you to pretend the go-to-market starts in Mitte when it does not. For investment criteria in operator language, see what we look for.
Founder location vs incorporation
Two geography questions get mixed together. Keep them separate:
- Founder and company geography (this page): where you build, sell, and operate day to day, and whether a Berlin-based studio will engage teams outside Berlin. Answer: we back founders across Europe and beyond from Berlin when fit is clear.
- Incorporation jurisdiction: which legal entity holds the equity and closes the round. Answer: the entity does not need to be German or EU-based. UK, US (including Delaware), Swiss, and other jurisdictions can fit when product, market, and round structure align.
You can live outside Berlin and still incorporate in a fit jurisdiction. You can incorporate in Germany and sell primarily elsewhere. You can pitch us with either combination when the software, traction, and round math are clear. Do not treat a German GmbH as a substitute for stage proof, and do not skip pitching because you are not yet in Berlin. Full entity detail lives on incorporation and jurisdiction.
What to disclose about location and market
Geography clarity helps a first-pass review. A strong deck for us usually states:
- Where the team builds: primary working location(s) of the founders who ship product and own the domain.
- Where you sell first: beachhead market, current customers or design partners, and why that geography is the right wedge.
- Incorporation: current entity and jurisdiction, plus any planned entity flip, so we do not confuse founder city with closing mechanics.
- Round logistics: amount, use of funds, timing, proposed instrument, committed capital, and open allocation for our €25k–€200k check.
Ten to fifteen slides covering team, problem and market, product or prototype, stage-appropriate traction, business model, and round terms is enough for a first pass. View-only DocSend, Notion, Google Drive, or PDF links work; password walls slow review. For slide mechanics, see pitch deck expectations. For instrument posture, see investment instruments.
How geography sits next to studio support
We are not a capital-only specialty fund that shows up quarterly. Investment at Halfmeyer pairs the check with design, engineering, and GTM playbooks. That support is scoped case by case; it does not require every founder to sit in our Berlin office to start a conversation or to close a fit round.
What we need for engagement is clarity and execution capacity: a software surface we can inspect, a founder who owns the problem, and a round that fits €25k–€200k. Remote collaboration, async reviews, and founder calls are normal parts of how early decks move. If a later build engagement needs denser operator time, we align that with founders after interest is clear. Geography is a logistics question inside fit, not a gate that blocks cold pitch. For how investment sits next to incubation, acceleration, and advisory, see invest vs incubate vs accelerate vs advisory.
How to pitch from outside Berlin
Submit at halfmeyer.tech/pitch. Required fields are name, email, and a pitch deck link. Company name is optional. Cold submissions are welcome; you do not need a warm introduction or a Berlin mutual connection. We review every deck personally and respond within 48 hours with a founder call path, clarifying questions by email, or a clear pass.
State where you build, where you sell, and which engagement model you want (investment, incubation, acceleration, or advisory). After a productive founder call, diligence typically runs one to two weeks and stays lean at pre-seed and seed. See diligence timeline and how to pitch Halfmeyer. Public track record we state for the entity: 20+ investments, 5.6× portfolio ROI, and 100+ products built. Those are entity facts, not a promise about your city or your round.
Submit your deck
If you are raising pre-seed or seed with a software-led product in our focus sectors and want a Berlin venture studio that backs founders across Europe and beyond at €25k–€200k, submit your deck. Halfmeyer Ventures responds within 48 hours. If you still need entity-jurisdiction clarity or the broader who-we-back profile, start with incorporation and jurisdiction or the Berlin pre-seed investor guide, then return here for founder geography.
